Mason Thomas Muth was born on Wednesday May 6th, 2009 at 6:18 pm
He weighed 7 pounds 2 ounces & was 20 3/4 inches
Nate & I arrived at the hospital around 7am & got checked into Room 7 - so perfect for us :)
Our WONDERFUL nurse Monica started my IV & got me hooked up to the monitors. Then around 8am after talking to Dr.Martin she started my pitocin drip.
Dr.Martin came by shortly after and it made me feel so much better just to see him & remember how much I trusted in him to make it a good labor & delivery :) He said he would be back around 12 to break my water.
Monica increased my pitocin every 30 minutes & honestly the contractions weren't that bad between 8 and noon - hah- then came the water breaking & everything changed :)
Dr.Martin came back & checked me- I was about 2 1/2 cm & he went ahead and broke my water. Shortly after that the contractions started getting intense! I didn't really know what to expect in the pain department- but those suckers cleared it all up for me- contractions are no joke! So... I decided to get an epidural :)
Monica brought my anesthesiologist in around 3 & I couldn't have been more excited to see her! They only allow one person in the room during epidurals & Nate opted to let my mom be that person :) Good Thing- that was no joke either! The only bad part was having the worst contractions of all DURING the epidural and not being able to move a muscle :) We got through it though & MAN was it worth it!
Dr.Martin came back in around 5:30 to check me. We were all surprised when he announced that i was complete & it was time to push! Dr.Martin had told me weeks ago when we first talked about inducing that "we'll start the pit in the morning, break your water around noon, and you'll have a baby by dinner time" I had no idea how accurate he really would be :) Nate stood behind me, Aubre & Mom each had a leg & I pushed for about 45 minutes.
Dr.Martin was AWESOME and hilarious and I would recommend him to ANYONE having a baby. He made the whole experience wonderful. He placed Mason on my chest immediately and the tears came immediately too :) Nate cut the cord- which I was so proud of- he'd been going back and forth the whole time.
The great thing about North East Georgia Medical Center is that the baby NEVER leaves your sight. The nursery people come into the delivery room and do all his assessments and all that jazz so I never had to take my eyes off of him. Nate and Aubre & Mom were all able to stand right around him the whole time & I of course was getting all fixed up by Dr.Martin.
Mason was PERFECT! His apgar scores were 9 & 9 for anyone out there wondering :) He is beautiful and healthy. I just held him and cried and cried and thanked God for such a healthy perfect son.
Shortly after Dr.Martin finished up, my dad & Nate's parents joined us in the labor & delivery room to meet mason. Lots and Lots of LOVE was poured over Mason that's for sure :) We were moved upstairs a few hours later to our Mother-Baby room.
The hospital stay wasn't bad- we both were ready to get out of there- but it really wasn't that bad. We had good nurses & all that jazz. Just being cooped up in a hospital room for 48 hours is not that great.
It was so fun to have people come visit Mason :) His Aunt Jeni came on Thursday as well as 3 of my amazing girlfriends - Stephanie, Ann and Keyes :) It made me so happy to see him all and to show off my BEAUTIFUL and perfect son :) Stephanie, Ann, and Keyes are all mothers and knew the joy and happiness that I was feeling. We were able to come home Friday around noon.
It was so much better once we were home. It felt so great to have our son at his new house and show him all around :)
My dad arrived back Friday afternoon right after we got home & then Aubre, Mike and Madison arrived Friday night. It was ADORABLE to see Madison with Mason. She was SO excited! She decided that she will call him "boo boo" :) so cute!!
It was a great weekend filled with friends and family. Nate's parents came over each day as well as visits from Uncle Aaron on Friday and then Aunt Kacki and PePaw on Sunday. Everyone just loved on Mason and agreed with us that he is perfect and the sweetest baby EVER!!
Mothers was a very special day at our house. It was filled with lots of grateful happy tears :) My husband is the sweetest man alive and is already the most amazing father. I am so overwhelmed by how amazing he has been over the past 5 days.
I will go into more detail on many different aspects of the past 5 days later- but I just wanted to get the basics out there for now- keep everyone informed :)
Like I said in my email earlier- we are so grateful to God and overwhelmingly blessed by Mason. We are so in love with him it is ridiculous! He is so perfect in every way!!
Love to all
